What Is Wellness To You
It has been a while since I sent one of these. I absolutely love receiving the newsletters that I am signed up for, so I hope to offer you as much joy when you “see Me” in your inbox.
2022 has been all kinds of wonderful. Neill and I bought our first house, got married, went on honeymoon, became the parents of two puppies and I launched the new Aligned Living membership! All within the space of 6 months.
And then I wonder why my anxiety is as high as it is…
I have to remind myself that change is constant and it is normal to feel highs and lows throughout these shifts. I have relied on my Asana, meditation, breath-work, swimming and alone time to anchor me through these times. Just because we practice “wellness” doesn’t mean that we are guaranteed harmony in our lives and this is when we need to question, what is wellness ?
My Reflection on the practices I cherish daily and share with my students.
These practices are support tools to help us get through “real life”, not enforce the idea of a “live laugh love” existence. Because for many that is not possible, and if you’re not “well”, does that mean you are not living an authentic “higher” vibration life?
If happiness is your goal, unfortunately you are going to disappointed, regularly. I have learnt that a more consistent and solid outlook is acting with the motivation of purpose, instead of chasing joy. When we act with purpose, joy will find us. When we are more authentic and call-in that which is in alignment with our highest Self it serves ourselves as well as the collective in a way that is valuable to all.
My work has evolved to encourage myself and my clients to “feel outside the box”, to challenge the “norm” and share as authentically as possible. The experiences that I offer, whether it be a group class, private session, workshop or retreat are all rooted in my Yoga training and I believe that my purpose and part of my Dharma is to share this knowledge. It does not belong to me, but rather I am honoured to be of service to these practices.
My offerings are for everyone! Although not every practice or every pose will be suitable to everyone on any given day, with unique adjustments to suit your needs, these practices will benefit everyone.
As we move through winter in the Southern Hemisphere, I encourage you to take this time to move inwards. A sort of hibernation if you will. I have been diving deeply into Yin Yoga as well as finding ways to honour the 7 different kinds of rest and explore what REST means to me (keep an eye out for my latest Blog post about this).
To support the healing of you as an individual and that of the collective, please see my latest offerings below.
“We cannot stop the winter or the summer from coming. We cannot stop the spring or the fall or make them other than they are. They are gifts from the universe that we cannot refuse. But we can choose what we will contribute to life when each arrives.” Unknown
